Student Section
Who is the Student Section Aimed At?
The section explains what freedom of information means and why members of the public need to be informed of decisions that affect them in their daily lives. In broad terms, it sets out the principles behind freedom of information (openness, transparency and accountability). It describes the work of the Office of the Information Commissioner and other "watchdog" organisations that monitor the activities of public and private bodies. It includes topical essays which may be undertaken by students as well as a short quiz on material contained in the site.
While the material is designed with Junior Certificate students in mind it also will be of use to higher level students or members of the public who are undertaking basic research or are coming to the freedom of information topic for the first time.
