Síníodh Acht na dTeangacha Oifigiúla 2003 ina dhlí ar 14 Iúil 2003. Leagtar síos san acht próiseas pleanála reachtúil chun a chinntiú go gcuirfear tseirbhisí poiblí ar fáil trí Ghaeilge. Sonraítear roinnt forálacha ginearálta bunúsacha san Acht a mbeidh feidhm coitianta leo, mar shampla comhfhreagras i dteanga oifigiúil a fhreagairt sa teanga oifigiúil chéanna, faisnéis agus foilseacháin áirithe a chur ar fáil don phobal i nGaeilge nó i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla.

03.11.2004 OFFICIAL LANGUAGES ACT 2003: Request for Submissions

The Official Languages Act became law on 14 July 2003. It provides a statutory framework for the delivery of public services by Departments and Public Bodies through the Irish Language. The Act specifies some basic requirements e.g. that correspondence be replied to in the language in which it was written and that certain information and publications be provided to the public in Irish or bilingually in Irish and in English.

17.06.2004 Launch of the Information Commissioner's Annual Report 2003 and publication of her Investigation Report on the effects of the Amendments to the FOI Act and the introduction of Fees

The Information Commissioner, Emily O'Reilly, has today published her first Annual Report following her appointment in June 2003. She has also published the report of her investigation into the effects of the amendments to the FOI Act and the impact of the charges for making FOI requests which were introduced by the Minister for Finance in July 2003.
